The resort of Protaras is a purpose built holiday resort in Cyprus, around nine miles from the airport at Larnaca, giving it a fairly short transfer time. A holiday in Protaras invites you to enjoy six miles of magnificent sandy coastline, as well as a whole host of family-friendly leisure activities to give your holiday plenty of variety. What Protaras lacks in historical interest, it more than makes up for in facilities. It was built along a stretch of shallow coastal water to make it a safe place for families to take children swimming in the azure blue sea, and hence it is a very popular resort for family holidays in Cyprus.Restaurant
Holidays in Protaras start around April, when the resort comes out of its winter slumber and the local facilities start to open up again. The temperature at this time of year is already in the 70s, and it ramps up from there to get to around the high 80s throughout the hot summer months. As a fairly family-orientated resort, a holiday in Protaras can often involve plenty of activity, with lots of things to choose from, including a wide range of water sports such as snorkelling and parasailing. On dry land there is plenty going on too, with activities such as horse riding and cycle trails to enjoy with the family. Nearby Ayia Napa has a water park, and there is a go-karting track to entertain the real adrenaline junkies.
Adults are equally well-catered for on holidays to Protaras, with the local golf course offering a more leisurely day in the sunshine. Keen shoppers can spend the day browsing the local clothes shops and handicraft stores, with a range of souvenirs shops to pick up some gifts. To make a day out of it, take the 10-minute trip to Ayia Napa to browse the tax-free designer clothes shops and hopefully pick up a few bargains.
